NEWARK, NJ (Monday, March 25, 2002)
e-Law, LLC announced the launch of it’s website, www.elaw4enron.com,
for use in the Enron chapter 11 cases on March 8th and already has had 18,500 visits and over
50,000 free document views and downloads. Since the launch, e-Law has added documents
relating to the bankruptcy filings of Enron's subsidiaries and some of the partnerships involved in the
alleged accounting improprieties. A listing of all the law firms involved in the case is also posted.
In addition to the numerous creditors and approximately 500 law firms involved in the chapter 11 cases, there are more than 25,000 current and former Enron employees who are watching these proceedings.
“e-Law enables lawyers to drop their yellow legal pads in favor of the Internet much in the same way FedEx got them to drop conventional mail in favor of overnight deliveries,” according to Jerry Krivitzky, Chairman and CEO of E-Law, LLC, the company charged with building, managing and hosting the site. “I expect the case to generate over 20,000 documents. On paper, these documents would be enough to fill 10 sets of encyclopedias. With elaw4enron.com, the documents will live electronically on a computer drive the size of a shoe box.”
“The idea of a free site is fitting when there is such a huge public demand for public information. This site will continue to benefit from the knowledge our companies have gained in serving the communities of law and government for over 100 years and from our experience with the variety of electronic offerings we’ve introduced in the past decade including most recently e-Law.com.” says Ed Denné, Chief Operating Officer. “Seldom does a response so genuinely address a demonstrated need. We are committed to pursuing the intelligent use of automation and technologies to improve communications and value. Elaw4Enron.com is a sterling example.”
e-Law, LLC www.e-law.com, a legal Internet company that serves New York lawyers by monitoring New York trial courts case dockets, agreed to host an Independent Web Site for the Enron Bankruptcy documents at no cost to those using it. With few exceptions, every document filed with the Bankruptcy Clerk’s office is done so electronically. The copies that are served on all interested parties and firms are done via email.
